Amarr weather seal replacement in New York typically runs $80 – $180 installed, and we stock the most common styles on our trucks so we can usually swap it during the same visit. You’ll know the seal has failed when you see daylight sneaking under the door, feel a draft in the garage, or find leaves and grit blown in after a storm. Water staining along the bottom edge of the door or pooling on the floor near the threshold is another dead giveaway.

We carry Amarr-compatible weather seal in several profiles: T-style, bead-style, and the wide U-bottom that many Amarr residential doors use. If you’re not sure which one yours takes, snap a photo of the bottom edge with your phone and text it to us before we roll out. Saves everyone the hassle of a second trip.
Which Amarr Models This Applies To
Most Amarr residential doors in New York fall into a few familiar series: Lincoln, Oak Summit, Stratford, Classica, and the Amarr Heritage line. The weather seal profiles differ mainly by bottom retainer shape, and here’s the part that trips people up: a Lincoln 1000 and a Lincoln 3000 can use different retainers, even though they look nearly identical from the outside. The retainer is the aluminum channel mounted to the door’s bottom edge that the rubber seal slides into.
If the retainer is still straight and intact, we replace just the rubber seal. If it’s bent, corroded, or pulled away from the panel, the retainer gets replaced too, which adds a bit to the job. We can match the OEM profile exactly or use a quality aftermarket equivalent that often lasts just as long at a lower price. For older Amarr doors where the original seal is no longer in production, we mill a matching profile from bulk stock. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Amarr, so we’re free to use whichever material fits best and costs you least.

Signs Your Amarr Weather Seal Replacement Is Failing
- Daylight visible under the door when it’s closed. The seal has compressed beyond its rebound point or torn. In New York winters, rubber stiffens and loses flexibility, which accelerates both problems.
- Drafts you can feel near the bottom of the door. Cold air rides straight under the seal. This is the most common complaint we hear from homeowners in brownstones and older buildings where the original seal has been in place for a decade or more.
- Water on the garage floor after rain or snowmelt. When the seal can’t shed water away from the threshold, it pools inside. In New York, road salt carried in by cars makes this water corrosive to whatever it touches.
- Cracked, flattened, or missing rubber sections. Run your hand along the bottom seal. If you feel gaps, splits, or hard spots, it’s done. UV exposure and temperature swings break down the rubber compound over time.
- Leaves, dirt, and insects getting in consistently. Small openings under the door are exactly wide enough for that. If your garage has an interior entry door to the house, that gap also lets heated air leak out and bugs march in.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In New York, Amarr weather seal replacement installed runs $80 – $180. The spread depends on door width (a single door takes less material than a double), whether the retainer channel needs replacing, and whether we’re cutting a standard profile or matching an odd one. We quote the job before we touch anything, and the number on the invoice is the number you heard up front. Every weather seal swap is covered by our workmanship guarantee, and the parts are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Parts and labor are one price. You won’t see a separate line item for “miscellaneous” or “shop supplies.”
For homes along the Upper West Side or in pre-war buildings where the garage slab has shifted, the seal sometimes needs to be shimmed or trimmed to sit flush. We account for that in the written estimate before we start. No surprises after the fact.

DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a weather seal is one of the safer parts of garage door maintenance, provided the door itself is healthy and the springs aren’t compromised. You can slide out the old seal and inspect the retainer for damage. Where owners get into trouble is when the door needs to be lifted off the tracks to access the bottom edge cleanly, or when the existing retainer is riveted in place and drilling is required. If the door is heavy or the torsion springs are questionable, that’s not a job to eyeball. A garage door that won’t stay put while you work on it can come down hard.

FAQs
We typically see three to seven years from an Amarr weather seal in New York, with the shorter end of that range applying to doors that face south or west and soak up afternoon sun all year. Salt, snowmelt, and freeze-thaw cycles harden the rubber faster than anything else. If your seal is cracking when you bend it back, it’s due for replacement. Call (585) 669-6563 and we’ll confirm over the phone whether it’s time.
No, not in a way that lasts. Patching a torn weather seal with adhesive or trying to revive cracked rubber doesn’t hold up through a New York winter. The material has already lost its flexibility, and repairs fail within weeks. We replace the seal with new stock cut to your door’s exact width, so the fit is right the first time.
A standard Amarr weather seal replacement takes about 45 to 60 minutes from setup to cleanup, including testing the door and sweeping the threshold. If the retainer channel needs replacing or the slab has settled enough to require adjustments, plan for a little longer. We leave the job site cleaner than we found it, every time.
Yes. Our trucks carry the common Amarr profiles, bulk rubber seal stock, and replacement retainers, so most weather seal jobs in New York are completed in a single trip. We also keep parts for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie openers on hand if the seal isn’t the only thing needing attention. Call (585) 669-6563 for a free estimate.
