When you call Bramwell Garage Doors New York, you don’t get a call center. You get a real person who knows the difference between an extension spring and a torsion spring, and who can tell you honestly whether your opener is worth repairing or if it’s time to replace it. Marcus Ellery has built a crew of technicians and coordinators who work the way he does: show up when promised, explain the problem in plain English, and put the price in writing before touching a wrench. Every person on this page lives in the New York metro area and understands how our winters, older brownstones, and tight parking situations affect the job.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Marcus Ellery, Owner & Lead Technician
Marcus has been fixing garage doors since 2001, when he started under the Kingswell standard and decided it was the only way he wanted to run a business. He’s the person who walks your job before the work begins, points out what’s failing and why, and writes down a number that won’t change when the invoice arrives. His specialty is torsion spring replacement, the heavy coil mounted above the door that handles most of the lifting weight. He’ll tell you exactly what a broken spring sounds like, a bang like a gunshot from the garage, and he’ll explain why it’s not a job to attempt yourself. When he’s not on a ladder, Marcus keeps a notebook of the oddest things he’s found wedged in door tracks over the years. A surprising amount of hockey pucks.
Lena M., Senior Installer
Lena has spent 14 years installing and replacing residential garage doors across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. She’s certified on all major brands we service, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Craftsman, and Raynor, and she can look at a 1920s carriage house opening and tell you within minutes which door models will fit without major framing work. Her specialty is custom cut jobs on older buildings where nothing is square, the floor slopes, and the rough opening has settled over eight decades. Lena is meticulous about cleanup, part of the Kingswell Way is leaving the job site cleaner than we found it, and she brings her own shop vacuum rather than borrowing yours. She grows tomatoes on a fire escape in Astoria and will absolutely offer you seeds in August.
Dario P., Service Coordinator
Dario is the live voice on the phone, and he’s answered Bramwell calls in New York for six years, including nights, weekends, and holidays. He’s the one who asks a few pointed questions, what kind of sound, does the door open manually, is the opener light flashing, and then dispatches a technician with the right parts on the truck. Dario grew up in the Bronx and knows the boroughs well enough to give a real arrival window, not a vague “sometime between nine and whenever.” He keeps a mental map of every garage door emergency call from the last month and can usually tell you, before the technician arrives, what the likely culprit is. He’s also the office’s unofficial weather analyst, because a northeaster means a spike in tension cable failures and he likes to be ready.
Tommy R., Apprentice Technician
Tommy joined the Bramwell crew two years ago after working residential construction in New Jersey. He’s in the middle of his apprenticeship, riding along with Marcus or Lena on most jobs and handling the diagnosis of opener issues: limit switches that tell the motor where to stop, safety sensors that have drifted out of alignment, and remote pairing problems that are often just dead batteries. Tommy’s the one who runs the vacuum across the garage floor before we leave and who double-checks that the manual release cord is reinstalled and reachable. He’s unfailingly polite and has learned that New York homeowners appreciate a technician who doesn’t trail drywall dust through the kitchen. Ask him about door safety reverse settings and he’ll talk for twenty minutes.
One Standard, Every Job
What unites this crew isn’t a uniform, though every technician is background-checked and arrives in one. It’s the Kingswell Way, the five-part standard every Bramwell location has operated under since 2001. The price is stated before the work begins and it’s the price on the invoice. The arrival window is real, and we show up inside it. The job site is left cleaner than we found it, not just swept but actually clean. The guarantee is in writing, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means if a covered repair fails within a year, we return and fix it at no charge. And if something does go wrong, a live person answers the phone, no voicemail tree, no callback request. Marcus holds every technician on this page to that same standard, and he’s the one who signs the guarantee on each job. The New York crew might be small, but the promise is the same on every call.
